The countdown to the Chinese New Year has begun! No, there won’t be a ball drop, but there WILL be a gala concert - complete with a traditional Dragon Dance on the Plaza of Lincoln Center at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, January 24.
Also: Catch a special preview of the concert with Lang Lang and the Quintessenso Mongolian Children’s Chorus, live from The Greene Space on Monday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m., broadcast live on WQXR 105.9 FM and Webcast on wqxr.org. The event kicks off “China in New York: A WQXR Festival,” an in-depth look at how composers and musicians who were born in China are influencing the world of classical music. Set your dial to 105.9 FM to hear features with superstar Lang Lang on January 23 and with the Philharmonic’s own Principal Oboe Liang Wang on January 24. And if you can’t make the concert on the 24th, tune-in to the live broadcast on WQXR at 7:30 p.m.
The Year of the Dragon comes in with a Philharmonic roar!
